WALTON HEATH
The 2 courses at the famous Walton Heath, the Old & the New, sit atop a vast open expanse of heath (typified by a chalky, clay base rather than the traditional sandier soil on most heathlands). 35 holes sit on the main parcel of land (with the par 3 opener of the Old next to the clubhouse across the road), and the view is just golf hole after golf hole as far as the eye can see.
The land movement is typically flatter than the other heathlands, but there is certainly enough elevation change to keep you and your golf ball interested.
The Old is certainly the grander of the two courses - bigger, longer, gnarlier with better bunkering and a much stronger test, but the New is certainly no 2nd rate track.
